“In the Name of Love” is actually about control in the guise of love. I’ve considered whether I should make this project more expansive and delve deeper into the topic, but so far, I feel I don’t have the qualification to represent the entire East Asian community. Therefore, I ultimately decided to focus on telling my own story. However, if you can find a connection or resonate with this work, I would be truly happy!
As for whose love, I didn’t specify it in the title because I believe that control in the name of love is inappropriate in all relationships. So, to anyone trapped by such control, I hope you find the courage to escape your current situation.
To be honest, being able to create this project and re-examine my own feelings is, in a way, a sign that I’ve managed to move past this issue. I hope that for those facing similar challenges, this work can give you the courage to break free. While it may feel disorienting at first, I believe you will eventually find the path that is best for you.
