Concept

Some emotions stay buried in our hearts for so long that we forget how to begin speaking about them.

Our bodies, in a way, are vessels for these emotions. That closed blue lily bud represents the words we can’t say — quietly resting within us, overlapping with our own shadow, yet never finding an exit. It’s like a mood that has slowly accumulated over time, quietly sealed away by the passing days.

As the stem gently reaches upward, those hidden emotions begin to surface — little by little, they rise through the body. The once-blurred shadow becomes more defined, more visible. The flower begins to bloom, and its color shifts from blue to white — as if language has finally returned to the body, as if the words within have at last found their voice.

I chose the lily because its symbolism often relates to purity and rebirth. But more than the meaning, I was drawn to the process of its blooming. From a tightly closed bud to a fully opened flower — it mirrors our emotional journey: from silent restraint to slowly opening up, ready to speak.

Coincidentally, lilies bloom in summer. And to me, summer has always felt intense — the sun shines brightly, and emotions tend to flow more freely. It’s a season of healing, a time to let things out.

So this piece, to me, is more of a wish: that the moment we finally speak our emotions aloud, the world outside will be ready to receive them.

I hope this work feels like a gentle invitation — a quiet dialogue between the body and emotion. Maybe, while looking at it, you’ll remember the words you once couldn’t say. And perhaps now… it’s time we had that conversation.
