Concept

This series was taken in Taiwan(also my Heimat), where trees and buildings often intertwine in unexpected ways. In the image, a tree grows directly through the structure of a building — a quiet negotiation between the natural and the constructed. Such scenes are not uncommon in Taiwan, where environmental regulations require a certain amount of green space to be preserved during urban development. As a result, architects and builders often work around existing trees rather than removing them, leading to these striking moments of coexistence.

The image is printed on a semi-transparent tracing paper and mounted on a window. This display allows the viewer to see both the photograph and the landscape outside at the same time. The work becomes a layered perspective — not only a visual experience, but also a spatial dialogue. In this overlap of image and reality, we are invited to reconsider the relationship between architecture and nature, control and compromise, the constructed and the organic.
